    The apparatus comprises a substantially cylindrical, vertical-axis container (16) divided by a motor-driven rotary disc (42) into upper and lower compartments (50, 52). A cutting tool (62) is fixed to the disc (42) for rotation therewith and extends above the disc itself from its central zone to the periphery. The disc and the tool are carried by a vertical shaft (32) the lower end of which has means (30, 34) for coupling it to a drive shaft (22) which projects upwardly from the bottom of the lower compartment (52). In the upper compartment (50) there is a vertical duct (64) which opens immediately above the path of the tool and through which the products may be introduced and pressed against the upper face of the disc to be cut into small pieces by the tool, for example to be minced, sliced, diced, chopped or shredded, according to the type of tool. The disc (42) has an aperture (68) for allowing the cut products to fall into the lower compartment (52). At least an upper part of the shaft is constituted by a tool hub member (56) which can be separated from the disc (42) and which carries the tool, to allow the replacement of the tool itself without the need to replace the disc. The shaft (32) and the disc (42) may be separate components and the disc may be keyed to tne shaft so as to be slidable thereon. Means (36, 44) may be provided for adjusting the position of the disc (42) along the shaft (32) in order to adjust the thickness of cut of the products.

    The device contains a vertical cylindrical container 1. The drive shaft 2 and the drive shaft 3 are mounted vertically-one, one above the other. The drive shaft 2 is placed in the lower part of the tank 1 and passes through its bottom. The container is divided into two OTcei: a 4 and 5 horizontal disc 6 ,, mounted in the upper part of the driven shaft 3, the disc 6 is made with a hole 7 for the product to pass,
    In the upper compartment 4, there is a driving tool 8j passing through the radius of the disk 6 and bonded to it. The hopper 9 is mounted in the upper compartment 4 so that its outlet 10 is located above the cutting plane. The cutting tool 8 is provided with a sleeve 11 rigidly connected with it with a pin 12 and the driven shaft 3 is made with a groove 13 for the pin 12 to enter into it with the formation of a bayonet connection.
    The connecting device for connecting the shafts 2 and 3 includes a shank 14, is rigidly connected to the drive shaft 2 and has external longitudinal splines 15. The driven shaft 3 is made small with; grooves 16 for connection with splines (5, the lower part of the shaft 3 corresponds in shape to the upper part of the shaft 2 and the shank 14.

    The device works as follows.
    The product is introduced into the hopper 9. Under the pressure of the piston 17, the product moves down. At each revolution of the shafts 2 and 3, the knife 22 cuts off a lobule of the product, the thickness of which is equal to the distance between the bottom surface of the knife 22 and the upper surface of the disc 6. Through the opening 7 of the disc 6, the lobes enter the lower compartment 5.
    The thickness of the slices is changed by moving the nut 19. This changes the mounting height on the shaft 3 of the disk 6 and the distance of the bottom surface of the knife 22 and the top surface of the disk 6.
